How To Stop Caring What Other People Think About You

Why Are Other People’s Opinions Important To You

It is mostly a matter of social conditioning. We are brought up to conform to the applicable norms. Anything that deviates from this could lead to us being excluded from the community – so we fear. So we behave in accordance with the norm so as not to provoke any problems. Pay attention to why you care so much about the reactions of others, and try to understand yourself better. Realize that this is social conditioning and there is nothing wrong with yourself. Fear of rejection is a result of our upbringing. As soon as you develop an awareness of this, it becomes easier for you to accept yourself.

Practice Self-love And Acceptance

The most efficient way to make you indifferent to the opinions of those around you is to love yourself. Love yourself unconditionally before anyone else. Always thinking about what others might believe and say shows low self-esteem. Boost your self-esteem and self-acceptance. You can achieve this by treating yourself mindfully. Take time every day to meditate, eat healthily, do sports, and spend time in nature regularly. Do things that are good for you. Develop a self-love routine over time. In this way, you strengthen your self-confidence and are less dependent on the judgment of others. Over time you will learn that only you can give yourself all the recognition and love that you used to seek outside.

Focus On Being In The Here and Now

The past is gone, the future is not yet here. The only meaningful place to be is in the here and now. You can only influence the present. You have no influence on what was or what could be later from the here and now. Most catastrophes only happen in our minds anyway, and rarely in reality. We tend to be pessimistic because it used to be a survival advantage not to be too reckless and suspect a hungry saber-toothed tiger around every corner. Instead of worrying about what kind of comments your actions might provoke in others, just enjoy the moment. Live the moment in the way that brings you the most joy. That enriches your life the most.

Surround Yourself With People Who Are Good For You

There are energy vampires who suck the last juice out of you with their negative nature. You should avoid them like the devil avoids holy water. And there are positive people who like you, who see your strengths, who encourage you and who are simply good for you. You should make these people your friends and spend as much time as possible with them. Choose your friends carefully and think carefully about who suits you and who enriches your life – and whose life you enrich. Nurture these friendships, for they are precious and rare. In any case, they will ensure that you continue to develop your positive sides.
